Former FIU coach accepts coaching job with Minnesota

Former Florida International University head coach Richard Pitino has accepted the head coaching job with the Minnesota Gophers.

Pitino is the son of Louisville Cardinals head coach Rick Pitino, who led his team to the national championship by beating Michigan on Monday night 82-76.

He coached Florida International for one season in 2012-13. Pitino led FIU to 18 wins in his one year with the program.

Pitino led Florida International to its first winning season since 1999-2000. Florida International had 11 conference wins with Pitino at the helm.

He was an assistant coach from 2009-11 with the Florida Gators.

Pitino was an assistant coach at Duquesne and at Northeastern University.

He spent time with the Louisville Cardinals from 2007-09 and 2011-12.

Pitino graduated from Providence in 2005.

Lynn names Price new basketball coach

Jeff Price has been named the new head basketball coach of the Lynn University Fighting Knights.

This is his second stint with the Fighting Knights. Price was the first head coach in Lynn history from 1993-99.

Price is taking over for Scott McMillin, who resigned after 10 seasons with the school. Lynn only won 11 games all of last season and three wins in the Sunshine State Conference.

During his six year tenure with Lynn from 1993-99, he won 20 games or more five of those years.

In the 1996-97 season with Lynn, Price led the program to a 28-3 record and an NCAA Division II Tournament National Semifinals appearance.

After he left Lynn in 1999, Price was the head coach at Georgia Southern for 10 seasons and won 138 games there.

Price took over as the head coach at West Virginia Wesleyan for one season in 2010-11.

Before returning to Lynn, Price was the interim head coach last season at South Alabama.

In 1981, Price earned a bachelor's degree from Pikeville College, which is located in Kentucky.

He is originally from Columbus, Ohio. Price is married to his wife Jody. They have one son and one daughter.

Kadji's effort not enough as the Hurricanes lose in Tournament

Forward/Center Kenny Kadji scored 11 points and played 28 minutes as the Miami Hurricanes fell short against Marquette 71-61 in the East Regional Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday.

Kadji is a senior from Duoala, Cameroon. He played basketball at Pendleton/IMG Academy in high school.

While at Pendleton/IMG Academy, he had 12.0 rebounds and 28.points per game.

Kadji played with the Florida Gators for two seasons before coming to the Hurricanes.

As a freshman with Florida, he played in 35 games.

In his sophomore year with Florida, he only played 45 minutes and scored 8 points. Kadji's year was cut short because of back surgery.

As a junior at Miami, he had 5.3 rebounds and scored 11.7 points per game.

In his senior season with the Hurricanes, Kadji is averaging 29.1 minutes and 12.9 points per game.

An interesting fact about Kadji is he played the piano five years of his life. One of his brothers also attends Miami.

The Hurricanes season is now over. This was Miami's first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2008.

His minor is in business administration. Sociology is his major at Miami.

Larkin leading scorer but Hurricanes fall in NCAA Tournament

Guard Shane Larkin had 14 points for the Hurricanes and made two three point shots as Miami lost to Marquette 71-61 in the East Regional Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday. He played for 39 minutes in the game.

Larkin is a sophomore from Orlando, Fla. He went to Dr. Phillips High School where he played basketball before coming to the Miami Hurricanes.

During his senior year at Dr. Phillips, he scored 18.8 points per game. He had 320 steals during his basketball playing days at Dr. Phillips, which is a school record.

He led his high school team with 27 wins in his final season at Dr. Phillips.

In his freshman season with Miami, Larkin averaged 7.4 points per game and played 25.6 minutes in his first season with the program.

As a sophomore with the Hurricanes, Larkin averaged 36.4 minutes per game and scored 14.5 points last season.

Larkin is the son of Barry Larkin, who was a baseball player for the Cincinnati Reds.
